The Reggae Lovers Rock concert scheduled for 18th February 2023, is here and it’s all the buzz as the concert date grows closer. We chatted with George Mulindwa the lead performer and ‘Sophia’ hit maker to learn more about his career, concert and future prospects as an artist. He will be performing live with Conscious Reggae band.
Mulindwa composes his music originally in Luganda, and appreciates that it’s widely enjoyed by other cultures and nations. His passion for Reggae has led him to meet reggae giants like Cedella Marley Minto-daughter of reggae singer Bob Marley, work on reggae movement projects with Cedella Booker-mother of Bob Marley and Rita Marley, Tuff gong records in Jamaica, the Slaves band-Lucky Dube’s band, Thuthukani Cele and Tuff gong’s sound engineer- Mande among other talented reggae artists.
While speaking about the Reggae lovers concert, George Mulindwa expressed his excitement to bring forward a reggae movement, unique to his african background and showcase the different characters of reggae to his audience.
The Reggae lovers concert is nothing like we’ve experienced before. Mulindwa is bringing experienced, highly skilled and educated instrumentalists with him on stage to give you the most exciting performance. Just remember to bring your vibe along! Other artists like Angela Kalule, Hills and Vines band of Boston Massachusetts and vocalists from London will be performing.
On his inspiration for organizing this concert, Mulindwa expressed his passion to create reggae music for audiences in every age group, and different backgrounds as well as his gratitude to his very supportive organizing team.
We learned that it was love at first between Mulindwa and the Watertown Sons of Italy, a venue in Massachusetts where ‘The Reggae Lovers Rock concert’ will be held. Mulindwa was in awe of the renovations made that provided an ambience needed for the exciting fire night. Safe to say it’s going to be the most zen and comfortable experience of reggae music. Diaspora Tv will be covering the event’s videography. He let us in on a little secret that the organizers could have an eye out for the best dressed reggae lover in the audience, so dress to the nines in your best pearls.
While concluding our chat, we asked Mulindwa about his future prospects and he promised to be seen on bigger stages performing alongside international reggae artists as well as taking part in film script writing and acting alongside a ugandan native Cliff Luyombya and several other actors. He addressed the active shooting of the series “Kyoto” which started in September 2022, and will be airing on our screens this year 2023.
